10 songs that make me cry

Music takes me places - sometimes to very emotional places. After listening one very melancholic song 10 times in a row, I decided to share other beautiful songs that touch me deeply. Some have those powerhouse climaxes. Some are very low key and mellow.

1. All I Ask by Adele

This melancholic masterpiece has 1 sentence that always makes me cry: It matters how this end,s cause what if I never love again.

2. Melancholy blue by Trisha Yearwood

I remember the first time I heard this song; we were watching country music awards with my dad. (I'm from Finland and almost nobody listens to country, but my dad is a huge fan and I love some artists too) We both cried.

3. Goodbye's (The Saddest Word) by Celine Dion

It baffles me how Celine was ever able to record this song.

4. Empty Chairs At Empty Tables from Les Miserables

This might be, surprisingly, my favorite song from Les Mis.

5. Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story from Hamilton

Eliza's parts are so touching!

6. Pretty Funny from Dogfight

This song illustrated insecurity and disappointment perfectly.

7.  Temporary Home by Carrie Underwood

It's a hopeful song but so melancholic.

8. Candle In The Wind 1997 by Elton John

He sang the song at his dear friend Lady D's funeral.

9. Broken Vow by Lara Fabian

A BIG heartbreak song.

10. Who Wants To Live Forever by Queen

This song gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes when I think about Freddie Mercury.

Check out my happy song list, too!

How to find things to write about

1. Read a book

Books are a great source of inspiration. You can not only write reviews but also discuss thousands of topics that rise from reading a book.

Ideas:
- a review
- why this book speaks to me
- best ways to read and study a book
- discuss a theme from the book (love, disappointment, grief etc)
- book covers
- best book stores
- a book that should be turned into a movie

2. Create mood boards

Beautiful mood boards have helped me a lot to get ideas what to write about. You can create them out of magazines etc or make them on your computer. Post you mood board(s) or write about thoughts and ideas that rise from your mood board(s).

One of my October Blog Challenge topics was a mood board and a lovely Finnish blogger linked up her mood boards HERE.

3. Recycle

Take your old post and write it again. Make it better: funnier, more informative, deeper, etc. Or write a response to your old post. You might have learned something new after publishing it or grown as a person.

4. React to news

Read newspapers or watch news and take notes.

Ideas:
- how does it affect my life?
- what's behind this?
- your solution
- the other side of the story
- how does it make me feel

5. Other bloggers' posts

Read other blogs. Write responses or your own versions of their post. Remember, though, do not plagiarize.

6. Look around you

Sometimes you just have to take a break and look around. See the the people around you. Try to understand how things work. Your home is also a great source of information.

Ideas:
- what does my home tell about me
- things I need to fix
- how the people around me have shaped me
- what I love about my neighborhood
- my cleaning tips

7. If you would die tomorrow

What would you like to tell your readers if you would die tomorrow? Or what would you do?

8. Find your old diary

Every time I read my old diaries (especially the ones I wrote when I was a teenager) I laugh so hard. My life was so simple. My thoughts were so funny. And my feelings - SIGH - were so ridiculous. But I learn so much about myself reading them. I realize what a long way I've come and how much I've learned about everything.

9. Photos and paintings

You could talk about an artist. I like to try to figure out what's behind the painting. What's the story and how it makes me think and feel.

I've pinned paintings and photos that inspire me to write.

10. Things you would never write about

Sometimes you have to have boundaries. But sometimes those boundaries should be broken. Stepping out of your comfort zone can be scary or uncomfortable, but often it's worth it.

Sometimes boundaries are a good thing and you should respect them. Why? You tell me.

How do you find inspiration?

The Other Sister - A story of a girl with weak eyes

I wrote about Esther couple days ago. Now I want to write about another woman in the Bible. Her story often remains unnoticed. She is often considered as "the other sister", the second best.

The two sisters

A man has two daughters. The other one is breathtakingly beautiful. The other one is... well... nothing special. Her eyes are described weak. Some say it means, that she had tender eyes or blue eyes. I imagine the weak eyed girl lived in her sister's shadow.

A Man named Jacob

One day a man, Jacob, saw a woman of his dreams. If Jacob lived today it might have been something like this:

Jacob sees a drop-dead gorgeous girl driving a Ferrari. He falls in love immediately.

In the Bible, this beautiful girl, Rachel, arrived with sheep (a sign of wealth). So, it was love at first sight when Jacob saw this gorgeous rich girl.

A Cunning father-in-law

Laban (the father-in-law) saw how infatuated Jacob was. He decided to take advantage of it; Laban promised him Rachel if he'd work 7 years for him.

Jacob worked 7 years to get Rachel, his dream. On their wedding night the father-in-law switched Rachel to Leah. Jacob realized that in the morning.

Leah

I can't imagine what Leah felt. Se was nothing but an object to her father. she was a disappointment to her new husband. She wasn't enough; Jacob married Rachel too. She was just the other wife. Rachel was the love of his live.

Hard to imagine

For us, the modern people, it is hard to understand this story. There are so many things that are so wrong in our cultures. Being married to two women, having slaves, women being nothing but men's property...

But what some of us can understand is being the second best. Being in someone's shadow and not being good enough. Sometimes we're not good enough for ourselves.

I don't know why, but this song (I Can't Make You Love Me) comes to my mind when I think about Leah.

I want to dedicate this post to my big sis. She has always been my role model. And she will always be my amazing big sis!

We are nothing like Leah and Rachel.
