Cheese Delights

You need

100g or 1/2 cup butter
2dl or 0.8 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp cold water
50g-100g or 1/2 - 1 cup grated cheese (I would recommend to use cheese that has a strong flavor) and crumbled Feta cheese
1 egg

Extras:

You can also add garlic, pepper, white pepper, oregano, basil and/or Parmesan cheese.

Instructions

1. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl.

2. Add cold butter and cut it into the dry ingredients using your fingers.

3. Add cheese and water. Try not to stir too much.

4. Roll the dough into a long strip and put it into your fridge to harden up.

Take a break. Read some blogs, get lost on Pinterest or something.

5. Preheat your oven (200C/400F).

6. Cut the dough into slices (about 2cm/0.5-1') and brush them with egg wash.

7. Bake for about 10-12 minutes.

Perfect with a cup of tea! Try with a dip!

Chocolate Sisterhood - Canadian Chocolate Treats

Today I found something lovely in my mailbox. Angela from The Clutter Box sent me chocolate from Canada.

Not just any chocolate! It was quality chocolate and interesting flavors from ginger to honey. What a delight. Thank you so much, Angela!

I'll sent her some Finnish chocolate, and I hope she'll like it as much as I've loved her chocolate gift.

Movie Buff Sisterhood - Little Miss Sunshine

Little Miss Sunshine is the first Movie Buff Sisterhood movie.

The Plot

"Little Miss Sunshine" tells the story of the Hoovers, one of the most endearingly fractured families ever seen on motion picture screens. Together, the motley six-member family treks from Albuquerque to the Little Miss Sunshine pageant in Redondo Beach, California, to fulfill the deepest wish of 7-year-old Olive, an ordinary little girl with big dreams. Along the way the family must deal with crushed dreams, heartbreak, and a broken-down VW bus, leading up to the surreal Little Miss Sunshine competition itself. On their travels through this bizarrely funny landscape, the Hoovers learn to trust and support each other along the path of life, no matter what the challenge." comingsoon.net

I loved this movie, because there were so many interesting themes: dysfunctional family, dealing with disappointments and crushed dreams, defining oneself, how the the world around us defines us...

But the biggest theme, that combines all the things mentioned  above is:

"Life is a journey, not a destination" is a cliché but still true. In Little Miss Sunshine the characters went trough their own life journeys. Their destination weren't what they had planned, but still during their journeys they learned something important - something that made them stronger and more free. They needed these journeys to learn and grow.

Our life journeys

Ashley

"I'm currently on a journey in life where I'm trying to figure out exactly what I want to do with my life and feeling incomplete. I'm keeping my faith strong and acting out on my beliefs to get where I'm trying to go. Of course, it's hard but I will continue keeping on!"

We are all on a journey to somewhere or something. I guess we should  stop for minute and reflect what we've learned on our journey.

Mrs K:

"Looking back, I now understand there's been many journeys in my life. One of the biggest journeys has been my journey as a wife. I've learned so much about myself during the last 4 years."

Have you seen Little Miss Sunshine? We'd love to hear your thoughts about the movie!

Our next movie is Grease (9/29)! Oh, I love musicals :) Ashley will be hosting so check out her blog next Monday!

Learning To Say No

Telling people "no" has always been difficult to me. Not to burn-out and to actually enjoy the things I do, I've started to learn it. Here's how

1. Don't answer right away

Ask for time to think. I've noticed that it's much easier to say no (if you need to) when you have time to think things through.

2. A person who is tired and not passioned can do more harm than good

You might ruin things if you say yes despite being tired, stressed out and not passionate about the cause.

3. It's not personal

Stop thinking that you are insulting someone by saying no. You might even do him/her a favor: see number 2!

4. Do something well, not many things poorly

Always remember to ask yourself: "If I say yes, am I able to do it well?"

How you can make me love your blog

This post was inspired by Ashley from That Southern Mama. She writes:  Why I Return To Your Blog?

1. Your blog design

Your blog design is the biggest thing for me. I love if your blog is simple, unique and stylish.

I want to find posts easily!

2. Feeling included

I don't like blogs that are public yet the blogger doesn't interact with all the readers. If you make me feel that you have a VIP readers then you will not make me fall in love with your blog.

You can make me feel included by answering every comment and possible emails and by giving a new reader a chance to get to know you easy.

3. Short yet thoughtful

I'm not going to lie, I love short posts. I often don't read long posts, I might skim them through. Short posts, that are written thoughtfully are amazing.

Thoughtfulness also means that your posts are not replicas of other bloggers' posts; your posts are unique. I don't like posts that you just "had to write" to have "at least 5 posts each week". If you don't have anything to say, don't post anything.

4. Photos, photos and photos!

I love blogs with beautiful photos. Don't use low quality photos. If you don't own a great camera, use pretty public domain/creative commons pics - and maybe edit them with Photoshop/Picmonkey.
